After a strong start to the 2015-16 season, Bass Lake Canoes boys’ basketball team has hit a lull.

BL High opened at 6-3, but since that juncture has performed at only a 2-5 win-loss ratio.

“That means our record is now 8-8,” said BL High statistician Porky Vegan. “I hope I’m correct, or else I’ll never get that math scholarship — or else.”

The latest loss was a 59-38 drubbing at the hands of Eastern County Line. Canoes head coach Zeb Dreppelin refused to mince words after the loss.

“I won’t mince words,” Dreppelin said. “We lost by 21 points. You won’t win many games with stats like that.”

Parker Valet led the Canoes with fewer than 15 points.
