Helga Schrimkat, recently-elected town crier for Bass Lake, has taken a leave of absence, citing occupational exhaustion.
News of the decision was spread Thursday by Oyez Bellman, crier-in-abstentia, via Twitter.
“Here ye, here ye,” the Tweet began.
Schrimkat, who ran unopposed for the seat in the Nov. 3 election, has a longtime history of public service, having held town crier posts in several municipalities, including Nearbytown, Middle City-State and South Northingville.
Town officials have not indicated if Schrimkat will receive full salary while on leave, or if she will not, town officials indicated.
