The owner of a bicycle that Bass Lake Authority Police recently found abandoned has been identified.

His bike, however, is now missing.

Jed Armstrong, of Nearbytown, had to leave his bike due to an emergency. He hitched a ride with another local biker, ex-police chief Tug McNabb. Police found the bicycle and sought its owner. Several days later — maybe even a week — Armstrong responded to Bass Lake Authority Police to claim the bike, but the officer on duty found the bike missing from the department’s warehouse.

A search is now on for the bicycle. Police believe it may have been stolen.
