“Christmas at Mount Rushmore,” the most recent CD release by Local Cover Band, Bass Lake’s most enduring local cover band, has been recalled due to “digital imperfections,” according to a source close to the situation.
The album, initially titled “We’re Just About to Rock Your Christmas Off!” was intended for release in time for Christmas 2014, but that plan changed, due to undisclosed reasons. It was finally unleashed in February.
Analysis by the estimated less-than-40 purchasers of the album shows that the disc “skips uncontrollably” throughout.
The audio glitch went undetected until late last week, because few listeners had experienced the album “in its entirety,” some people have speculated under oath.
When contacted for comment about the recall, producer Flip Alabama lamented the situation.
“Oh, no, I’m going to be out of a job again,” Alabama said.
Immediate plans are to remaster the disc, then remanufacture it in physical form, then re-release it with yet another alternate, “Yule Be Sorry,” said lead singer Skippy Jenson.
To date, LCB’s studio output has netted a negative $17,000, said the group’s unpaid accountant.
