Bass Lake High School marching band has announced its performance theme for halftime of Friday’s home football opener vs. Central Central High.
The band will perform “Medley of Buggles Hit.” It opens with “Video Killed the Radio Star” and concludes with “Video Killed the Radio Star.” Midway through, lead trumpet Trevor Hornsby will perform a bugle solo.
Director Stewart “Stu” Nesmith explained the decision for set.
“In today’s culture, music video truly has supplanted long-playing records as the medium of choice,” said Nesmith, 67. “We thought it would be appropriate to mark that transition through song.”
BLHS band also will kickoff pre-kickoff proceedings with another medley, a drumline-only version of “The Star-Spangled Banner/We Will Rock You.”
“We encourage the crowd to remove their hats the clap along with the music,” Nesmith said.
