Bass Lake University has accepted a bid to the Toll-Road Travel-Plaza Bowl, set for Dec. 21.
The Beaver will face Indiana University-Purdue University-Shipshewana.
BLU (7-4) is making its first postseason appearance “in what seems like forever,” according to Millie Borne, assistant sports-information director at Bass Lake University.
IUPUS will appear in its seventh straight bowl. The Barnbuilders finished the 2017 season 9-2, winning the Carriage-Mercantile Conference title.
The Beaver started slowly this season — as is typical — then rattled off three straight wins in the final four games, vs. Stripmall State, Benjamin-Harrison Ford and Indianapolis-Vonnegut — not necessarily in that order.
Head coach Jean-Paul Kierkegaard describes the invitation as “our Kairos moment.”
“Some years, our players don’t catch on — it’s all Greek to them,” said Kierkegaard, who also is a professor of philosophy at the college. “This time, it’s different. Next time, it might not be.”
Game time is 2 p.m. Eastern. The game will not be televised.
