Marileene Chinder, 84, of Bass Lake, died Monday, at an undisclosed location.

She had not been in failing health for several months.

Marileene was born March 31, 1932, through no fault of her own, in Summerleaf, Michiana, a daughter of Charles and Mary Mostly. Marileene was the first in her immediate family to graduate high school … or, more properly, “to graduate from high school.”

In June 1954, she married Robert F. Chinder in Summerleaf. They moved to Bass Lake some years later.

Her early career was spent as a homemaker and mother of two, until her children left the nest in the mid-1970s. Soon after, she went to work at a department store, then a book store, then fled to a theater.

She retired in 1997, following 20 years and three sick-days of dedicated employment.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law; a son and daughter-in-law; five grandchildren and their spouses or divorced spouses and their children; a sister; and a brother-in-law and his son and daughter-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends — and her husband, Robert, in 1993.

Visitation is 2:45-4:45 p.m. Thursday at Regional Church of Anticipated Salvation, 70000 block of Out-on-the-Highway Road.

There will be no funeral service. Private graveside service will take place at a local cemetery, and it’s none of anybody’s business when nor where.

Her hobbies included book-reading and many other interests.

The family requests memorials.
