Bass Lake University bowed out of postseason play last week, falling to East Central Southewestern State in the ACAA Tournament’s pre-opening round, 75-53.

Park Zagel, head coach of The Beaver, was humbled by the loss — or maybe he said “humiliated.”

“Tell you want, they put on a clinic,” Zagel said. “No, seriously, their school hosted a clinic last summer. I was there. Learned a lot, but not enough to beat ’em.”

Zem Wheeling led Bass Lake in scoring, with 14 points,; rebounding, with 13 boards; as well as leading the Beaver in assists (5), steals (1), turnovers (4), timeouts called (2) and free throws airballed (1).

ECSSU went on to be crushed in the after-opening round, 83-53. It was that coach’s turn to be humbled.

Bass Lake opens next season in November. Opponent is expected to be TBA University.
