Leonard ‘Len’ Zebwick, 85, of Out-on-the-Highway Road, died immediately Friday.

He was born Sept. 5, 1930, in a then-foreign country, to Calvin and Marga. The family moved to the United States in 1941, to escape some sort of oppression.

Zebwick migrated to Bass Lake in 1948.

He served as a postal worker from 1949-1980, at the Bass Lake post office, and again from 1986-86, to fill a temporary delivery-gap during a heavy-load period, without pay.

Since that time, he has enjoyed fishing on Bass Lake, stamp-collecting and a large percentage of his family.

Survivors include his ex-wife, Gelda Zilroy, 71; three sisters; four friends; a half-friend; and a bag of undelivered postcards (entirely by accident).

He was preceded in death by his parents; 12 co-workers; and a snake, which recently was reported missing.

Visitation is scheduled. Services begin at noon Tuesday at Lakeside Agnostic Church. Cremation has been requested. Cremains are available in a local PO Box.

Jolly’s Morgue-and-Donuts is entrusted with funeral arrangements. Memorials may be contributed to the U.S. Postal Service, to help with civil service reform.
