Local landmark Bass Lake Inn/Convenience Store will be closed the weekend before Mother’s Day for its annual “Scrubfest” event.

Scrubfest, a Bass Lake tradition since last year, will feature a local cover band or two plus food from local freezers and fish from the lake.

Scrubfest is a BYOB and BYOCS (bring your own cleaning supplies) event, according to proprietor Clem Brickston.

“We like to include the community in our attempts to beautify the inn before my mother comes to visit next weekend,” Brickston said in an emailed fax. “She was dismayed last year.”

Scrubfest gets going around 10 a.m. and continues until the “odor from behind the frozen pizza freezer goes away.”

A carry-in supper will follow. Donations are accepted but are not tax deductible, according to tax guru Ned Levelcut.
