A new CD proves Christmas was just around the corner.

After a somewhat longer-than-expected delay, Local Cover Band, Bass Lake’s most enduring local cover band, has released its 2014 holiday album, just in time for Presidents Day 2015.

Retitled “Christmas at Mount Rushmore!” the CD contains familiar holiday favorites, updates/adaptations of oldies/classic standards and a metal version of “Peaches” by The Presidents of the United States of America.

“This is what the people want,” said Skippy Jenson, vocalist and singer-songwriter for Local Cover Band. “Are you ready to rock the winter holidays, Bass Lakeians?!”

Track list includes:

  • “I Saw Hot Rod Lincoln Kissing Santa Claus”
  • “Deck the Halls With ‘Bonzo Goes to Bitburg’”

And many more.

Producer Flip Alabama, former head football coach at Bass Lake University, sounded pleased with the final product, in a text-message conversation with the Beacon.

“It’s a way to honor the birth of Jesus and the Executive Branch, at the same time,” Alabama said. “Do you know of any coaching vacancies?”
