A New Year’s Day stand-up comedy showcase Thursday at Funky’s on the Bayou attracted almost no patrons.

Despite a 2-for-1 special on champagne shots, the inaugural “Comedy at Brunch-Tacular” went largely unattended. Four local comics were scheduled to perform at the showcase, which began at 11 a.m. Headliner Tiff Bannen refused to take the stage after the first three acts drew a combined one laugh.

The single-chuckle came from Jimson Craiger, who was passing through Bass Lake and stopped randomly for food.

“Hah!” Craiger said before departing.

It is uncertain if “The Laugh-Brunch” will be repeated on Jan. 1, 2016.

“We tried something different, and it failed,” said Greg “Funky” Gregory, owner of Funky’s. “Now shut up.”
