Kathryn “Cathy” Minson, 68, received a lifetime-achievement award this week from the Bass Lake Community Effort Foundation, for winning the most community awards during her lifetime.
Minson broke the Bass Lake town record for awards earlier in 2014, when she was named Gardener of the Month. Now, she has yet another.
The latest honor brings Minson’s total to 144 awards, which include trophies, plaques, ribbons, certifications and honorary statuettes.
She has received official recognition in numerous areas of interest, from bowling to community service, and everything in between.
A smiling Minson joked about her accomplishment Tuesday during a card party at her home.
“I’m running out of room to put all these awards,” Minson said, humbly.
“That’s what Cathy says every time she gets an honor,” said card partner Julia Verne. “To be honest, it isn’t that funny anymore. I’m still proud of her, annoying as it is.”
Minson surpassed the awards-mark previously held by Gabbie Swann, who died in 2006 at age 81.
Swann also had received a lifetime achievement award in 2001, but following Minson’s latest victory, that honor will be posthumously rescinded. The move will drop Swann into a tie for third place on the all-time list.
