Dearest editor:
I was ecstatic to read how John Philip Sousa wrote even more songs. I grew up with his music, as a child.
But I am saddened by the plagiarism of “Heaven’s Stairway.” It wasn’t long ago that the best composers were impeccable. Now, these so-called rock and roll hoodlums feel they have to cheat.
What has happened to us? Have we forgotten how to conduct ourselves? Did we turn the wrong Page? It is a heartbreaker.
Many times I’ve hummed a tune that wasn’t mine. But in those days, we knew it was wrong.
