Bass Lake Meeting Club will hold its annual awards luncheon at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14 in the back room at Jolly’s Morgue and Donuts.

The event is held each year to honor meeting club members for their meeting attendance in several categories such as public education, town boards, local government, leisure, pets and substance abuse, among others.

According to the club’s reigning president, Doogan McWhittle, competition for the year’s top prize is stiff indeed.

“We’ve got five members who are neck-in-neck for the Meeting Attender of the Year Award,” McWhittle said. “I’m not going to name names, but those five know who they are and they know that the tally continues up to  the day of the luncheon and includes the luncheon itself.”

Last year’s big winner, McWhittle’s wife Dolly, showed up to some 450 meetings in the Michiana area.

As always, a meeting of Meeting Attenders Anonymous will be held following the luncheon.

Attendees to both are asked to bring a dish to pass and five of their favorite meeting agendas from the previous 12 months.
