Basketball: Canoes end regular season on high note

Bass Lake erased (a few) memories of a rough regular season Friday with a 56-31 triumph over league colleague Prairie Depths, in a regular-season finale for both teams.

Now comes the difficult part: the postseason finales.

BLHS fired on nearly all cylinders Friday, erasing memories of an up-and-down — mostly down — year.

The Canoes (4-16, 2-12 Moonshine) obliterated the P-Depths Housecats (record: worse) in every phase of the game — with the exception of turnovers, offensive rebounds, fouls and steals —  but didn’t take the lead for good until it was 3-1.

“This is a crowning achievement on a season we’d all rather forget,” said starting guard Cody Shee, on behalf of the coach. “I don’t know what that means, but I guess you can take it to mean whatever it does.”

The Canoes sorely missed its former star, Vin Diagram, 2014 Bass Lake Resident of the Year, who has gotten only spot minutes as a freshman at Bass Lake University, where he has maintained a 4.0 GPA and has completely overhauled the college’s use of social media in its marketing plan.
