Really a shopping cart

A story posted last week about the arrival of the Bass Lake community helicopter was accompanied by a photograph of a shopping cart. The shopping cart photo was provided by Bass Lake Police Chief Gwen “Tug” McNabb, who said it was a diversionary tactic to prevent criminals from knowing what the “surveillance asset” looks like.

“Criminals don’t need to know we’re looking for them,” McNabb said. “We’ve got enough to do without giving the criminal element an inside track to our high-tech operations.”

The real helicopter is pictured above. We regret any inconvenience the photo of the shopping cart may have caused.
