Bass Lake High School senior Vin Diagram, now 18, announced his intention today to play basketball at Bass Lake University, and attend classes there as well.
The news was confirmed by a source close to the family, namely his mom, Jen, recently 41.
Bass Lake head coach Zeb Dreppelin praised Diagram’s decision in a text to the Beacon advertising director.
“It’s exactly what I would have done,” Dreppelin typed. “And everyone else should have, too.”
BLU director of athletics Helen Sanderstroms issued a statement today, although it concerned the purchase of new catcher’s gear for the Beaver softball team.
Diagram, now 6-5, averaged nearly 17 points and almost eight rebounds per game as a three-year starter for the Canoes. He also distributed a plethora of assists, but specific details were lost after a scorebook-theft scheme in December 2013.
He was first-team all-Moon-Shine Conference in both 2013 and will again this season, if conference coaches know anything about basketball, Dreppelin said.
Diagram said he plans to major in math and theater at BLU, but mentioned in a social media statement, “I may change my plans, if things don’t go as planned.”
Max Fontaine contributed information about the scorebook theft.
