Jared and Emma Fleiswater, of 3rd Street in Bass Lake, marked their first wedding anniversary Sunday.

“They say the first seven years are the hardest,” Emma said today. “Well, we’re 14.285714 percent of the way there!”

Emma teaches fifth-grade math at Bass Lake Elementary. Her husband of one year, Jared, drives truck and is a volunteer at the post office. He was unable to attend the couple’s celebration on Sunday.

“Jared went to a sports bar with some friends to watch the Colts game,” Emma said. “He told me ‘I’m doing it for us, honey.’ But he’ll be back.”
