“Ode to the Full Moon from a Lakeside Cabin in January on a Tuesday”
by Al Schwartz
Ceaseless you tug
At our salty shore
And bring forth love
And mighty lore
With eye aflame
You light our way
You bring
The howling wolves to bay
Though on some nights
Obscured by clouds
You seek and hide
Through fluffy shrouds
Your light goes dim
For brief respite
We run inside
For stew and biscuit
But winds respond
And nudge away
Those vapor bags
We yell Hooray!
Oh moon our bright
Faithful companion
For absent loves
You act as stand-in
Your path is long
You must not tarry
We’ll see you soon
